On October 10th when I began my new prescription Effexor. I never imagined I would be where I am now, almost two weeks later.
Immediately after starting Effexor, I noticed my anxiety on a regular basis. It has never been regular before. I also became extremely fatigued during the day. Much more than usual and to the point that I lost all motivation to accomplish even the simplest of tasks. I assumed my body was trying to get use to the new medication so I continued the prescribed dosage. Even though I was overly fatigued during the day, I was unable to a restful night of sleep with constant tossing and turning. Finally, on October 18th, I called my doctor and explained my symptoms. He urged me to immediately stop taking the Effexor while we figured out the next plan of action.

Three weeks ago, I was at my wits end with the mental health industry. I was begging on my hands and knees for help but was continuously passed along to the next guy. I shared some of my frustrations through social media and found a whole new path for me. While sharing with others on social media, I was able to get some second hand help from a few people. First, a friend shared with me some information she got from a co-worker. The first and obvious suggestion was to go to the ER to be admitted- if things were really that bad, but they aren’t quite to that point. So the second suggestion was to research a facility or office that is privately owned, because the offices associated with hospitals are the ones who take the state-paid or Medicare patients first, and puts everyone else on list. This information intrigued me, so I started to research.
I’ve been writing this blog for almost a year and half now, and back on June 25, 2015 when I published my first post, “What to do with all this time?”, I had three goals. I thought it is time to renew these goals, and create some new ones.
